My creative space

It's seems that I'm fated to have issues with the mohair pandas I make. That when i decide to do anything new in terms of anything Panda that it there will be at least one thing that will take more than one ( or two!) goes to get it "right".
The last two new pandas i had made, i had been fairly happy with , but still not 100% satisfied. So when I started on this guy i was determined that this time I would be.
At first it was going like a dream, the head was going well and my idea of using smaller eyes i felt really worked. THe head is usually the place where if I'm going to have problems with a bear it will be with the the head, but not in this case. Of course after the usual long amount of obsessing that goes with me and bear heads, it was done and it was time to move on to the body.

I think the ease of which the head came about gave me a false sense of confidence as i moved on the body.
WIth the other two pandas, the body had been one of the main areas i had not been really happy with . At first i couldn't put my finger on it, but after googling images of pandas, it was clear. Pandas don't have all white bodys but black "stipes across the legs and arms.

Feeling the stripe across the arms would be too much, especially as I had other plans for the top half, i went for the leg stripe, with a desire to create a concave chest with then a little beer tummy sticking out.
Four bodies later ( black bit too small, black bit too big and body to fat, black bit too small again and body to skinny) i had a winner ( or at least at the point was good enough and was over making any more bodies)
Then of course, because I love to drive myself nuts and make things hard for my myself, i returned to my weird obsession of a panda with a blue and white singlet, this time knitting it.

Needless to say another 4 goes later singlet was right ( the 3rd time the front was finished and perfect  when I discovered some large tea stains on the front, i really wanted to cry)

But well the end result is, Moto, who well I'm really genuinely happy with. Which is such a nice feeling and makes all the agony and driving myself nuts worth it and only a distant memory.
What can I say , I'm a sucker  for the feeling even if it comes at the cost of my sanity.

Moto has turned out beautifully Jess and that is entirely because of your dedication and artistry :) I'm still loving the small eyes too (perfect!) and that vest is too cute for words :) I always used to think before that things either worked or they didn't but I'm totally seeing now that it's hard work and doing it again and again until it's right that makes all the difference. Good on you :) Kx

Makes sense to me that a panda would wear a blue and white singlet.

Moto is adorable! He is one cheeky panda, sipping tea on the side, and spilling it down his top. Tsk Tsk Moto!

Well done on your perseverance, you deserve an award.
Love Norma's comment 'tea loving, slurping little Panda'

I'm sure he'll find a home where he is loved to bits (not literally)
