As you know I've recently starting knitting again. And there has been a recent trend of all the mohair bears I've made have had some sort of wooly garment. But not to worry nudists, not all my bears will be clothed there will be plenty of nudies to go around.
And while taking up knitting i've rediscovered the joys and not such joys of knitting.
A joy being it's mediative nature and how it truly is the best companion to a bit of trashy tv or the footy. And the rhthym of it.
One not such joy which I had both completely forgotten about and how to do was picking up and knitting stitches around an edge for a neckline for example. Nothing is known to get me more in a state than this, but it is always worth it. I have found a small crochet hook is a good cheats helper with the needles but this still doesn't make it easy.
And sewing up yes I spoke of that last time.
When I knitted before my 10 year hiatus, this would also get me in state and i would drive myself nuts with trying to sew up everything perfectly and doing and redoing. It alone was the reason i gave up knitting. And this time in returning to knitting I swore to myself that i would not let this ruin knitting for me, that i wouldn't drive myself so crazy. That each pieces didn't have to be perfect in it's sewing up
So as a result i sew up things to the best of my ability but pretty quickly and a bit wonkily. My little bears clothes are far from perfect with perfect seams. They are not the neatest, but do you what? It's not getting me down and it's not deterring me from knitting or taking away the joy. And in a way it's rather fitting for wonky bears to have wonky clothes. they might feel a bit odd in a perfectly tailor outfit.

Love it - they are totally wonked! I'm ignorant about knitting things so most of this sailed over my head.... BUT I'm glad you are knitting again because the results are so cute! Yah for wonking I say! Kx
Wonky is SWEET - but in the interests of sanity, are you using mattress stitch to sew the seams?
Selvedges on your pieces will make assembly and picking up stitches much easier. They make it easier to see the edges of the stitches so you always sew in the same distance from the edge. You create a simple selvedge by knitting the first and last stitch on every row you knit.
Or you could just use seamless patterns, there are loads on Ravelry.com.
I love that you have rediscovered knitting and your bears look adorable in their knitted clothes. I first started knitting for my teddy :-)
