I've been thinking alot about Kate's post love where you live.
And have been appreciating all the things inside and out that make my place and it's surroundings home.
today i was looking around at my place at all my furniture. Tables, chests, draws , chairs couches all collecting over time from various thrifting trips, ebay bargains and roadside pick ups. Each with their own difference story and all of which I love.
and if you had asked me which piece was my favourite, i would probably have automatically said my 50s yellow laminate table, but when I really thought about it my favourite piece would have to be my $40 dollar couch.
I bought this couch when I was moving out for the first time, and as well as being a steal and loving the way it looks it's extremely comfy. It was everything my mum's furniture was not, nanna daggy, old and worn. But why it's my favourite is because of the world that has become and has become over my life with it. It is where I do a majority of my bear making, crafting, emailing, dvd watching; it's where a majority of my old guys hang out keep my company and lounge about, it has been a prop and a background to endless photos and it's top has been a place for many an ami invasion.
iIt's usually 3/4 full with numerous calico bags filled to the brim with yarn and various toys in progress, bits of stuffing, a few books, a snuggly cat, and the odd stuffing stick. It has a wonderful capacity for losing things in swallowing eyes, needles, pencil and lighters, but the upside to this is when I'm convinced I have no more 7mm eyes on me all I need to to is lift the cushions off and take a lucky dip, which might not revel the eyes, but that great pencil I lost all that time ago ( and very often the eyes as well)
It is a world within my world, and a home within my home.
it's my $40 couch and worth so much more than it's original price.
Do you have a favourite bit of furniture? Does it have a story behind it? I'd love to know

What a lovely post! and special couch!
I do love a good ami invasion as well.
My favorite bit a of furniture at the moment is a beautiful antique dresser that my husband bought me for mother's day a few years back. It is lovely and the top is full of my little special things; like rocks, feathers, old poetry books, seashells, jewelry, and my daughter's art work. It makes me smile.
It's not that you are at all nana daggy - but I agree, that couch is SO you. x
I love your $40 couch too. It is what I thought of as soon as you wrote yellow table ... I thought "NO it has to be the couch" and it is so that's a happy ending. Phew.
Such a beautiful post. I must admit that couch does come to mind when I think of you... it's featured so often it's been imprinted on my mind! :)) Love that it's a space of reaching out as well as snuggling down :) Kx
When I met the Mr, he had the exact same couch, we still have the arm chairs too but we reupholstered them a few years ago as they were badly torn but I love them so much. The couch died after too much rain and mould but every time I see yours I am reminded of what ours use to look like. x
The post is very nicely written and it contains many useful facts. I am happy to find your distinguished way of writing the post. Now you make it easy for me to understand and implement. Thanks for sharing with us.
