When my mum was doing some resorting on the weekend, she came across a few a of my early crafty creations.
It's funny timing in a way with Kate's post about a similiar issue.

The quilt top I do rememeber, it was later on when I was about 17 and I was doing a bit of patchwork. I was making it for my mum I think. It comes from the era of my crafting career I call " I once was a craft psycho". I look at it now and think god I would never made that now, completely handpieced ( with paper people) and all the points and triangles.
The first one, the pencilbox I can't even remember when I made it, and guessing by the glitter hearts I would say when I was about 10 or so. I had actually forgotten all about it but totally remembered when I saw it. And as a bonus it has a huge collection of derwent pencils inside which never goes astray.

Craft from the past is always a bit of a giggle.
ANd now she's given them both back to me, and I have no idea what to do with this quilt top.
WHich brings me to my weird giveaway thing. I was wondering if any of you wanted it?. THere is no way in 100 years I'm going to finish this quilt. Finishing quilts is not my strong suit. And I have so many of my old creations from the past I don't need another one.
It measures about 126cm x 144cm. It has a couple of stains, but all the paper bits have been removed. All it needs is a backing and maybe some batting and a border if you like.
SO if you would like it let me know in the comments section. I totally won't be offended if no one wants it- I mean I don't so how can I be? Just before I take it to the oppy...
Have a great day

happy February gorgeous Jess!
I love pencils and you don't have to be a 10 yr old to love glitter hearts ;)
hope your lovely quilt finds a new home, so much effort gone into it.
I have no idea about quilts so we'll leave it to the pros.
stay cool ♥
Its lovely to meet an earlier you Jess.
Funny to think that once you decorated with pink and glitter and not a teddy bear in sight.
I'm with Cathie and leaving the quilt to the pros but I hope it does get finished and loved. XX
That is fun to see your earlier self. I am no quilter but i greatly admire the skill and patience invloved.
Hello there. That's a lovely quilt top and would be sure to be treasured by someone who likes traditional and light decor. Oz Comfort Quils

will take anything like this, quilt and bind it and hand it on to people who have suffered from natural or other disasters. You never know who you could make happy. She has her address on her right sidebar. Cherrie
Yah for long lost pencilboxes filled with derwents! I have a pencilbox in the garage that I made in year 8 - it's covered in teenage graffiti from my friends and I.
You should totally keep that gorgeous quilt top - why not just get someone else to finish it off for you? Do a swap with a quilter maybe?
Curly Pops could be right....you might regret giving it away. But if you decide to then we'd be happy to take it and finish it off and give to people affected by the Victorian Floods. We are planning a Quilting Bee in a couple of weeks to start making some quilts for people who have suffered losses in the recent floods.

Love this post!
You could always finish the quilt off for a bear. Layer it with some batting and a backing fabric and make it look old and grungy.... Even cut it into several small quilts?
I turned my first hand pieced quilt blocks (so so dodgy) into pincushions (oh and a doggy blanket!!!)
It looks like there are a few of us who are interested in your quilt top... count me in on the draw. Thanks!
I think your quilt top is lovely. If you are drawing, count me in. I love making blankets and such and donate them to the local senior center.
Oh I love those finds from childhood, especially when there are things in there you can use now. They can bring back such happy memories.
That is an impressive quilt. Quilting has always seemed daunting for me.
Hope you are enjoying the cooler weather today, yesterday was a killer.
Lee:)
I was going to put my hand up for it, but after reading the other comments I have to agree, giving it to someone to finish off for flood victims would be wonderful. I agree with willywagtail, Jan would be the perfect person to give it to to finish, it is just lovely Jess.
Bit of a side note, seeing your pencil box reminded me of a similar one I made for myself when I was young, with the same name and everything...hehe...I saw "The Man from Snowy River" and decided I wanted to be called Jessica, so I wrote it everywhere and told people that was my name....for ages. hehe.
Love your pencil box, Jess..it's like a time capsule!
Do let us know what you decide to do with your quilt top. I did a stint with patchwork and can imagine what went into the making of it...all those pointy bits would've driven me to distraction. You're made of sterner stuff, obviously. :)
hehe what a blast from the past. its so funny to rediscover these things. what an added bonus your sweet pencil tint contains a secret stash! pitty i dont do quilts - meaning i dont have the patience and wouldnt know where to start to finish this off. im sure many hours of work went in to the top.
