Sleepy Saturday

Very much a day to be inside, snuggled up out of the rain.
I've been washing clothes, making cauliflower carrot soup ( it doesn't look as yummy as it is)

and making bears.

Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Cauliflower and Carrot Soup ( makes about 4 cups)

500 gram Cauliflower
4 cups of vegetable stock ( or water with 2 stock cubes
75 gram carrot
50 gram leek
1 tsp fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
fresh parsley to garnish
Salt to taste

Boil vegie stock to boil in a large saucepan. Coarsely chop vegetables and add to broth.
Chuck in bay leaf and thyme. Add a dash of salt and let cook for 12 to 15 mins or until vegies are soft.
Set aside for a bit to cool down. 1/2 or so
Whack soup in blender and blend until smooth.
Heat gently over a low medium heat and add extra stock/water if desired to thin a bit.
Serve up . Yum.
You might like to sprinkle with a bit of Parmesan cheese, add a bit of yoghurt if you like too.

My creative space

the house is feeling somewhat emptier than last week.

I'm catching up on some very patiently awaited orders,
and beginning to think about my Softie for Mirabel.
To see what everyone else is been up to pop over to Kirsty's where it all happens

Oh My Goodness!!

I'm a little excited, probably too excited for what it is. But Colin has been featured in an etsy Treasury by MadrigalEmbroidery. Thank you so much!
This has never happened to me, ( or Colin) before and we are both so excited and humbled.
You know because of all my dramas with him, he's a bear very close to my heart.
And um while on the topic of etsy, Im i've updated my shop with the guys who didn't find homes on Saturday.
Hope you have a great Monday!

Craft Hatch

Today was my Craft Hatch market. I had the best time, it was so much fun and so lovely. But right now I'm pooped, feel a little like bear with his stuffing loved out of him, but in the best sense of tired, and like a totally worn out by love and good times bear if you know what I mean. So I need to warn you and apologize in advance because i will probably make even less sense than I usually do.
It was a lovely market, and everyone was so friendly. Craft Vic had done a wonderful job setting it up and curating it, it was a lovely balance and mix of different crafters represented.
I felt so honoured to be amoung the amazing crafters there.
Amoung them were beautiful mobiles, quilts and bunting by Mosey ( i was lucky enough to get some her mini bunting)
Gorgeous jellewry from Jill Hermans
sweeeet badges, cards and artwork by Shirley Rusli

I had a ball and with many friendly familiar faces popping by for a visit, including Catherine, Laurel, Vic, Jodie as well as Angela and beautiful Luka and some family too. I got a parcel of sweet goodness from who else but Ms Cupcake and thoughtful herself Cathie.
Thank you all so much for making the trip ( and for your kindness.) It really meant alot. Seeing some friendly lovely peeps was one of the highlights of the days. Really thank you.
A huge thank you is also due to my mate Evie, who came by and was my stall buddy for a hour and half. ( so I could smoke and wee) Thank you so much Evie for giving up some of Saturday to be at my stall. It was so lovely of you. I tell you what Evie knows a thing or two, as soon as she turned up things started selling quickly and everytime I turned round there was another bag of wonk going out. WHile I was yacking on.

Might need to get her to come to every market I do - I think she might be like my Posswonk,- a good luck mascot charm, hehe.

I always get so nervous for markets and to be honest sometimes afterwards I don't know why.
I so far have had such a great time at the ones I've done, and it is so lovely to get the face to face feedback and interaction with people. People were so lovely and generous in their responses.
God I'm rambling aren't I ?, I'm sorry I will stop soon I promise.
And much to my surprise I did so well, with many of my guys finding wonderful new loving homes.
So well, I think I'm beginning to see how long this post is, so I'm going to sign off, but before I go I would like to say huge thanks Craft Vic and Kim for inviting me , again for all lovely friends popping by, and to all the people I met today, who took a bit of wonk into their heart.
thank you for such a lovely day. ANd to you guys my peeps for all your kind wishes and encouragement and support. I couldn't have done it without it

My creative space

in my space today it's all about the small details of getting ready for Saturday.
There are labels to be cut out, Name cards/stories to be made up and prices to be marked.
There's also one last potholder to finish.
There's been a new addition of Blinker, the smallest rabbit I've ever made. She's a real tomboy of a bunny. Who likes doing dive bombs in the pool, lake, river etc , making mud pies and red jelly beans.

And of course I couldn't leave out the small explosion of wonk that has taken over my couch. There is much excitement amoung my guys of the thought in a few days some of them will find their forever homes.
(I'm excited too about the market but hugely nervous too.)This is my last hurrah, the final line up ( minus the poholders but they are hard to fit in.) I was hoping to get one more bear in but I don't think I will. Anyway they were all eager to get a big group photo together.
I'm off to check out what everyone's been up to at Kirsty's.

Gordon has a friend

Who goes by the name of Francis.
While Gordon is an ele of the sea, Francis has great dreams for the air, he really wants to fly - just look at those arms!- but wants to do it sans vehicle.
When trying to convince him Elephants don't usually fly, he simply says " WHy should Pigs get all the fun".

Nothing will stop him in his dream.
He's tried many times
and is yet to be successful.

At which point he cheers himself up with a Peppermint Crisp.

IF only

I've blogged about the Peter House before. The Peter house is problems the wonkiest house, I've ever seen, and possibly in the wonkiest house in Melbourne. It is also my favourite house I've ever seen, and my dream house.
So a couple of weeks ago, my heart sunk when the Peter House came up for sale, because there was no way in hell I could buy it, and I knew that there were few people who shared my appreciation of wonkiness especially when it came to houses. ANd I knew that soon the Peter House would be no more.
Today I went and saw the Peter house in it's Open for Inspection. Because I had to, because I knew soon it would be gone forever.
I couldn't stop laughing because inside it lived up to it's wonky exterior. The stairs were on a slant, and going up them you felt sea sick, and one of the bedrooms upstairs had a slightly rocky feel. Even the toilet was wonky.
It was too wonderful to be true. SO I have no choice but to enter the lottery this week. Because
it's my only shot.
IF only , if only
Happy Saturday.

New print and rough beginnings

It's my first time ever using brown ink for gocco, but I have to say I like the effect. My new card/print called Going for a walk.

Thank you for all those who shared in and gave encouraging words about my excitements of yesterday.
I've done a couple of very rough sketches , just to get some of the images in my head on a paper. Can you guess who this last one is ? I'm sure you can all guess what I will do for W.
Hope you're having a lovely Saturday today.

Happy Saturday!

Dare you not to dance to this song ( or even not tap a foot)

Inspiration strikes

Last night after viewing these gorgeous vintage blocks via Deb, a couple of hours later( when I was trying to go to sleep) I suddenly got very excited about the idea of doing my own Animal Alpabet cards/drawings. Thinking through the alpabet my mind racing with words of not just animals beginning with each letter , and I found myself suddenly sidetracked by Ukuleles and Wonky, nude and Oops and other such great words. It's funny how I almost get inspired or excited out something, you know the sort of crazy frenzy that keeps you awake all night.
And the pictures in my head of bears and creatures doing things starting with each letter were far more vivid and exciting to me, than trying to animal to fit each letter, when words were flowing when I had more freedom.
I know it's not the most original idea, but I'm excited, because then this morning I thought this could be my first picture book or zine in the works. And so I had to share it with my peeps. Because I needed to, you know?
( oh yes and above is my (failed) attempt at drawing an alpaca)
Hope you are keeping dry on this cold rainey Friday xo

My creative space

Dennis is a bear that moves with the seasons, although from the weather we've been having in the last few days I think he might have gotten prematurely excited about donning a singlet and putting his scarf away ( meaning I ran out of the tan silky baby alpaca yarn)

My business cards arrived today from Moo, I used two of my gocco designs and it's probably silly but I got quite excited and felt all "professional" seeing my name and them. A big thanks to Beck for her link , I realised last week in a bit of a panic that I didn't have any business cards for the market and everyone was telling me I needed them. Moo is really fun and easy to use, and they got here in a little over a week, not express or anything.
And finally I'm officially out of room on the top of couch so my only option is go up. Without wanting to sound vain, I'm rather proud of having covered the couch, it was a little dream I had and I've achieved it.
It also makes me a little excited seeing this explosion of wonk.
FOr more creative spaces, visit ever inspired Kirsty.
