Last year for my birthday I asked my mum for a new old bike, with gears.
As much as I love my old old bike ( not pictured), it is rather old and creeky and has no gears, so if there's the slightest slope or breeze, little bike struggles, and it's all too much work for me, in something that i want to be fun. Which meant I wasn't riding the poor thing.
Anyway Mum asked where she should look , and I knew just the place.
Cam at Meet Me At Mikes finds fabulous old bikes and restores them, so we asked Cam to look out for a bike for me. Cam also knows what I like in terms of bikes and how I'm rather short.
I was prepared to wait for the perfect bike, and a couple of months ago Pip told me they had my bike for me. A vintage Peugot with 5 gears.
Because I've been so busy it took me ages to get to Mikes to meet my bike ( sorry about the pun) but they kindly kept it for me to inspect and when I finally did it was love at first sight.

Dad picked my bike, named Tinkerbell, up yesterday. Isn't she gorgeous? And she's a dream to ride. SHe is living inside when not being ridden so she doesn't just rusty or stollen. She's rather fancy, she folds down has an amazing old generated powered light and her original bell. I think she's a bit too good for me to be honest. I'm a very lucky girl.
Cam's done an amazing job and fixing her up, when she found her she was in bits, and now look at her.
thanks SO much Cam and Pip ! I just LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!

That is the coolest looking bike ever... just needs some red and white streamers for the handles and it will be perfect :)
It's not your birthday yet though... RIGHT?!!! Sheesh kebabs, I hope not.
Your new bike Tinkerbell is divine! Bravo all 'round to a beautiful ride.
she's perfect jess!! x
i also love your yellow wall and the checkered square pot holder thingy in the background : )
Sometimes.... A bike has to wait for the right girl to come along... And then she does and it is really just SO great and they have heaps of fun together until the girl fangs it out a bit too much and has a bit of a bingle... But these peaks and troughs are important and bring girl and bike closer together... And the bingles become less frequent and before you know it the girl and the bike are shopping for baskets and baguettes together and they live happily ever after.... And that is The End!!
