Saturday

Saturday was a bit of jam packed day for our little family.
I started off the day as usual going for my morning walk, I always love seeing houses showing support for the Swans, and that although the Swans moved to Sydney, around here they are very much thought of as South still
Firstly we headed off to a family party celebrating Davis 1st birthday, my cousin's little boy.
Davis is an amazing little boy, last year he was born at 28 weeks, at the size of a 21 week old.
The fact that this little boys is still with us is a miracle, in his first year he has faced many hurdles and times of worry and ill health, only to come triumphant and smiling everytime. It was a priveledge to be there to celebrate him, and the strength and commitment of his two parents.
( sorry for the lack of no picks- there were so many cameras going I didn't want to add to the family paparazzi feeling)
Then we headed off to meet a friend for a drink before going to the MCG to see the Swans play in one of the prelimenary finals against the Bulldogs.

Luckily we had time for a quick visit to the fairy tree.

Unfortunately after a fantastic start my boys lost the plot a little and lost the game by 5 points.

It was heartbreaking both the defeat, but even more so because this meant it was the last game of my favourite player Brett Kirk, a wonderful player, leader and man.
A man who was blessed with the biggest level of skill or talent, but hung in there, tried many different ways, never gave up only to become an invaluable player and one of the most respected footballers in the competition.

I have to admit I barely held it together as he was taken of the ground of the shoulders of his team mates, and its never good to see your team loses and not play well, I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Looking back on it's funny yesterday was a bit for me the celebration of two battlers, who against all odds have come out on top.
I hope you are having wonderful weekend xo

I'm not a great footy fan, but the emotion of finals, last games for great players & the spirit around town gets me every year...

You forgot to mention that he is a big spunk too! Sounds like a great day and I love the link between the two battlers. Bad luck for the Swannies but they had a pretty good season anyway and all good things must come to an end I guess. I really enjoyed this post, have an ace week xo
