Tink and I had our first incident. Inevitable really, like the burning toast when you've got a new toaster.
I wish I could say to you that is was someone else's fault, a stupid driver or another arrogant biker.
But no in an effort up the with the great Red Hot Bootie accident of winter 2010 ( which I still have the scars) , it was again a display of my pure co-ordination. I lost control of her and smashed into a wall on my right, lost total balance and then fell onto my left onto the road with Tinkerbell falling on top of me. Boy she is heavy.
The thing is Tink goes a lot faster than my old bike and it so much easier to ride, and I like going fast. And I'm not used to front breaks rather than back ones.
The good news is I've learnt that leaver I thought changed the gears actually loosens the handlebars and the bike is completely unscathed. I however am not, left hand cut up and bruises popping up in all sorts places ( especially on my bottom and around my crotch- which I will not show you)
As adults Im not sure we are used to falling so much, at the time I felt both like crying and deeply embarassed. Much to my relief there was no one around and it was on a tiny street.
Luckily too i got back up on her and rode her to home, determined not to be afraid of bike riding. I'll be back to riding soon, I'm sure, just when I'm not so sore.

Oh Jess! I am so sorry but this line "The good news is I've learnt that leaver I thought changed the gears actually loosens the handlebars" had me completely cracking up!! Glad to hear you got back up on that bike and showed her who is boss!

oh dear! I am no good with bikes and avoid them at all costs! you are brave! hope you feel better soon :-)
Bugger!!! Ouch, ouch, ouch... I feel like I was there with you Sweets - I have had quite a few bike stacks myself, they're never fun & always a shock, & generally we don't have our mummy there to kiss it better!
So glad Tink is okay though! Take care hon.
Ouch!
I'm so sorry Jess. Its sounds crappy.
If I close my eyes I can still get that feeling of getting my bike tyre stuck in the tram tracks and skidding out of control until I fell.
I hope you get back on your bike soon. X
I hope the injured hand isn't your "bear" hand!
onwards and upwards from here! xx
ouch! so impressed you got back on and rode home... hope you're feeling better soon xx
Oooooh Nooooo! Hope you're ok Jess, but glad to hear that you'll get back on the bike once you're all fixed up.
