Hip hooray! My place is yours is back. A big thanks to Vic from Punky & Me for being the host and choosing a theme What I'm reading so friendly to the state of my house at the moment.
So I'm currently reading Handmade Nation, which is I know is way overdue, it was out ages ago but as usual I'm behind the eightball ( not entirely my fault as I kept asking for it for Xmas/birthdays and it kept being forgotten.) Anyway I'm totally loving it, the stories and profiles and articles are inspiring and all different from each other. And some of the craft in this book is out of sight. It also reminds me of things I love in the craft community. THings I'm thankful and grateful for.
Secondly and not so enticing is I've bit the bullet and have started on the long scary path to get my license ( I kept putting it off, but after a really lovely invitation I go proactive)
WHich means I'm currently reading the Road to Solo driving because I have to renew my learners as it expired 12 years ago. At the moment it's not so much scary as incredibly boring, and I'm finding it a little hard to not get distracted and read something nicer or think about the next thing I'm going to make.

i need to get handmade nation! it's been on my "to read" list forever!!!
No about that driving license, I really must try and find the time and the motivation...
Hello Ms Wednesday,
I thought, at 30 I was the oldest P plater on the planet but now I know that all the cool kids get theirs late!
I was terrified of the whole driving thing but even though its taken time to feel totally comfortable behind the wheel and driving in Melbourne can still make me sweat I comfort myself with thinking of all those non-poluting, good for the environment walks and public transport trips i have had in my non-driving lifetime... you should be proud! Good luck!
Oh, I'm another one with Handmade Nation on their wishlist... mind you, there is NO chance of anyone getting it for me as a gift!
As for that second book... GO YOU! I thought I would never, ever, want, need or get my licence... ever ever. I had one lesson with my Mum when I was 16 & decided to give the whole idea up forever.
Moving to the country (& having a little Punk to transport) changed my views considerably, and after 25 lessons with an instructor (because we've no family around & The Boy only just got HIS Ps too!), at 28, I can broooooooom & zooooooooooooom all by myself! Woot!
It is AMAZING.
Really. I used to roll my eyes at people who said that - I could always get around somehow, but it is so liberating to be able to go wherever, whenever, you don't have to check timetables or wait in the rain for a packed bus... bliss!
Good luck my dear, let us know how you are going from time to time!
