He's a softie

Last night I finished this little guy and I can't stop stroking and touching and kissing him . He is so soft! I used a new yarn, it's baby alpaca, and it is the softest snuggliest yarn, ( sorry baby alpaca, I hope you aren't too cold). It doesn't happen to me very often but I have to admit, without wanting to sound vain, I'm a little besotted with this bear, and am putting off emailing the lady who ordered him.  Perhaps I am just seduced by his softness, and I know I can make another ( but never one the exactly the same!) And I feel he keeps looking at me with those little eyes, and I'm gone. Boys!! Really I will pull it together.

I GOT A GOCCO!!

OK, A VERY very exciting and lucky thing has happened to me. I got a Gocco printer!!! I have been wanting one ever since Pip introduced me to it at Brown Owls. I had asked Mum and Dad for one for my birthday ( september) and decided I could wait til then. Lo and behold on Friday when I go round to Mum and Dad's place, she has gone and got me one. Aren't I lucky?
Without going into too much details after a few mishaps on the weekend, and Pip kindly being on the end of a Gocco emergency, I did my first independent print. I used a drawing I had done which it's anything fantastic but I'm working on it.
thanks Pip for introducing me to Gocco!

A week of special- my little farm

Ever since I can remember I have loved farm animals, and for a while ( when I was 5 or so) I wanted to be a farmer and live on a farm. These days, I still love them, but know myself too well to know that I love the idea of it all, but I love the city too much, so instead I have my own little farm right at home. Dora the pig, Petal the lamb and Ping the duckling.
THey are old steiff toys, I bought many years ago off ebay and the like. I love them so much and they are a testement to the beauty of steiff toys, and how life like they are, as well as being totally loveable. They sit on my bookshelf in my living room where I often look up at them.

A night at the Opera

Tonight I'm going to the Opera for the first time and I quite excited. I'm doubly excited as my Dad is directing it, for the Victorian Opera. It's called Ariadne auf Naxos. It's opening night tonight too. I think I'm going to get dressed up!

Mike's Week of Special stuff

Pip is doing a " A week of Special things" and I've decided to join in.
These tthree things are from my very dear friend Fee she lives in Italy and although we don't talk all that often anymore, whenever we do it's like we see each other all the time. A poem she wrote me, about our friendship and two gorgeous tiny ceramic bears she gave me. These things are very special to me, because the poem is amazing and beautiful and the little bears are so "us" if you know what I mean. They are also like having her there in my house, or a reminder that even though she is miles away, distance doesn't really affect really strong close friendships and like she is with me all the time.

One lucky girl!

Today I had the upmost pleasure of meeting Ghostpatrol and Miso ( and also their lovely friend Charlie Lance). They were absolutely lovely and I had been a little nervous, you know meeting Ghostpatrol!!
We met up at their studio and do our trade and I think I got the better half.
I had asked for a print and book, but instead was given all of these beautiful things: the most gorgeous softie who I've called Moped, a sketch type book filled with the most delicate and beautiful sketches, the Ghostpatrol and Miso book, TWO prints, a book full of comics and a couple of stamped prints. I'm a very spoilt girl.

Something new

Babar does yoga, originally uploaded by eszter.

Last night I went to my first ever Yoga class and I really enjoyed it especially at bit at the end where you rest under a rug. I wobbled and wonked my way through it I learnt my balance leaves something to be desired and i definetly plan to keep doing it.

a special swap

After much agonizing and obsessing,  I finally finished over the weekend  Polar and Frisbee for my trade with Ghostpatrol  . I am so honoured by this whole trade with him, he makes the most beautiful artwork, so i think I spent even longer than usual obsessing and procrastinating because I really wanted them to be good for him.

Oh Turtle!!

My creative space

Playing with packaging.... Thanks to the wonderful Pip for introducing me to gocco, and there fore getting very excited about new ways to wrap or "package my guys". So I've been playing with paper a bit today.

Bye bye Barry

Big, Bald, Bad Barry goodbye. You will be missed, at least by a crafty bear making fan in South Melbourne ( although I really think you made the right decision for you and the boys). I know you have your issues, but you will always have that special spot in my heart and i will always remember what a  stunning player you were.
And I don't think you're bad either, just troubled and misunderstood.
Love
Jess xoxo
