My creative space

In the past few days I've been working on an ami elephant for my sister for Xmas. I got the base pattern from this gorgeous book, but I think next time, I'll do things a bit differently. I do hope he is going to be Ok, I mean I want to send her something really special.
I also was rather proud of myself this week, that after struggling a bit with the 2nd Wombok after having forgotten the pattern I actually wrote it down. OK I know it's not much, it's the LOGICAL thing to do and what most systematic people would do but I'm not one of those people. ( I was already half way through the next project when I did write it down)
Lastly I seem to have strained my right forearm from too much crochet I think! See it's rather swollen and really sore. Who knew craft could be dangerous? although there was that other time. For more creative spaces pop over to Kirsty to see what she and others have been up too

that elephant is the cutest little stuffed animal I have ever seen. My little one would go nuts over it- he LOVES elephants. Hope your wrist is better soon- maybe you should try to express your crafty side doing something else for a change... cardmaking? that mightn't be so hard on your joints. depends how into it you get xo m.

Yeouw!! Rest and plenty of ice I say. My pilates teacher recently taught me to crochet with my elbows supported, like on an arm chair, and try to use both wrists, not just the right. I hope you can get back to it soon as that elephant is too cute to leave for too long.

I really like that wee Wombok, such a gorgeous little face. Crochet injuries...who knew...hope your arm feels better super soon.

Seriously Jess, that arm is not good. Do you need to take a break? Do you need an intervention? Do you need someone to come and take your hooks away?

Good on you for writing down the Wombok pattern. Although after the angst, can't believe you left it until you had started soemthign else!

I too am like you and think I'll remember what I did so don't write it down - although I now try to have a pad AND pen near me at all times so that I can do it and whilst preparing for the market it's been invaluable to look back and see what I did so I can do it again. Not rocket science but us crafters must be somewhat alike! x PS Hope your arm's better soon!

Oh my goodness! Your poor wrist!! You really need to get that seen to - I hope it gets better soon. Love your Wombok and your elephant is just adorable... I'm sure your sister is going to love it. I'm also sure she wouldn't want you to keep crocheting with your wrist in this condition. Look after yourself, hon. K

OWWW! Jess, that looks so painful! I strained my wrists when learning how to knit last year and it took forever to feel better. I have never had that problem with crochet until i started working with amigurumi, smaller hooks and a tighter stitch. What helped for me is to build up the hook with some sort of padding to make the hook handle wider so my hand doesn't get quite so cramped...if that makes sense. They sell foam "sleeves" that will slide right on a small hook to thicken up the grip on it. Take care of yourself my friend. And i know your sister will LOVE that little Elle..i know i would (i have always had a thing for elephants)
