Help!

I have chilblains ! Which if you don't know what they are, it's when your fingers or toes get  too cold, and they swell up, hurt and itch like something else, and generally go a lovely blotchy red and ugly.Does anyone suffer from them too? Does anyone know any good tips?Apparently according to mum ( who gets them too) and the chemist there is little to be done. I got the lotion for them, but it seems to make them worse. Anyone know any secret tips? I can't really bear to think ( no pun intended) or a whole itchy winter of this!

oh my goodness, you describe what I've been experiencing every winter for the last few years! (Mostly on my lower legs, it drives me insane). I thought I was allergic to something only around in winter...but reading the link you posted this sounds much more likely.

I was going to recommend you try Origins Comforting Solution which helps me more than calamine does but I can't find it on their website!

Perhaps they have changed the name, I can only hope or I will be guarding my bottle from now on!

I don't know if my experience will help - but... i really struggle with the cold as it makes my skin itch like crazy. I get lumps which look like mosquito bites and they take a LOT of warming up to settle down and fade away. I have to go out with loads of layers on and any exposed bits tend to suffer... wrists, neck,ears... even the bits under layers don't survive for long.

I have talked to a couple of GP's about it and they said it is a type of allergic reaction of the skin - a histamine thing - no real reason for it occuring. So you could try antihistamines. I think I have even seen a brand that makes antihistamines for "itchy skin rash". (I should take my own advice and get some)

Have you been diagnosed with chilblains? I don't know much about that.

ANYTHING is worth a try to stop you from climbing the walls... Good luck

The old timers ( like in Charles Dickens day) used to use goose grease. Sorry. That's the only remedy I have ever heard of.
